Tucson Tattoo Expo 2012

Oh man, did we have fun this year at the 4th Annual Tucson Tattoo Expo! For Essem Design and Running With Scissors, this is by far our FAVE event to be vendors at. We had bloody marys, got new ink, hung out with our industry friends, met new peeps, watched a suspension show, shopped, and had a hotel room with a jacuzzi in it to top it all off! Oh ya, and we got to sell some of our handmade jewelry, too, which is also a bonus.

If it looks like I've had a couple of drinks... it's because I'd had.

Hissyfits Hullabaloo!

Hands down, one of my FAVE yearly events for vending my jewelry is the Hissyfits Hullabaloo! Its always fun and full of beautiful wares and handcrafted items! All the hip mamas in Phoenix know that Hissyfits is the coolest little kid/baby consignment shop all year 'round. This past event was back in Nov and I am just now posting pics of me and Stacy H., who came up from from Tucson to help me sell Essem Design. It was a blast! But then again, we could have been selling horse manure, and we would still have fun!

Who else is just as excited for Halloween as me and Stacy? The weather here in Arizona has FINALLY started to cool, and we have so much to look forward to this month! Costumes for the kids, Stacy H.'s birthday, a costume party at my medical school (and we get to wear our costumes instead of scrubs!), and of course ALL the totally fun, creative items that spring forth from Halloween festivities! I also personally love all the Halloween products in the stores right now, cool skull dishes and plates that I actually use all year 'round LOL.

Next thing you know, Halloween will be over, we'll all have tummy aches from candy, and we'll be in the throes of Thanksgiving and Christmas! But before that, I want to share a cool Halloween Treasury that one of my resin necklaces was featured in on Etsy :) There is so much wonderful handmade Halloween stuff out there... like home decor for those of you who like to go ALL out. Or how about a handmade accessory to make your costume complete, and also stand out!

Both our shops, Essem Design and Running With Scissorss, have Halloween sections chock full of skulls, ghouls, zombies and frankies!

Tucson Tattoo Expo 2010

What?! It's Fall already?

Man, this summer has flown by, and I am just now posting about me and Stacy's biggest Spring event which was The Tucson Tattoo Expo! We had a booth right next door to 4 Forty 4 Tattoo and needless to say, it was a blast with live tattooing, pin up contests and boutique shopping in effect!

While sipping premade margaritas and talking to our awesome customers that filtered through, we saw some of the best and most unique tattoos! Including this cute couple with matching corset piercings. I also fell in love with this colorful Marilyn Manson tattoo!

These rockin' kids' trucker hats are hand-embellished by Stacy H. and they were a huge hit! She sold out of almost all of them thanks to all the cool, tattooed moms and dads who wanted something unique for their kids to wear.

It's entirely too hot here in Arizona for craft fairs and most events, so our days have been filled lately with making new jewelry, birthday parties for the kiddos, and playdates with other mommies and such. We have been brainstorming like crazy on NEW items that are totally unique and reflect our personalities, sometimes sweet and sometimes sinful! We are stocking up for upcoming holiday shopping and have tons of Halloween goodies in our shops right now.

Better Times, Bitter Times

Filling our days around here is no hard feat! Stacy H. and I chat on the phone about how in every possible snippet of free time we are working on jewelry, listing a new item in our shops, or scouring the internet for awesome supplies to inspire us. Making time for our creative endeavors is definitely not easy between baby bottles, cooking, laundry, potty training accidents, etc but without time to ourselves, we would go insane LOL. Even if a we lose a few winks in exchange for running a kitsch jewelry online shop, it's worth it!

So I just wanted to share a few of the newest things we've been losing sleep over! Check out these SUPER cute tattoo-style earrings from Stacy's shop, Running With Scissors! We have also been madly preparing for the holidays and upcoming events that we will be setting up booths at. I am going to be at Hissyfits' HUGE craft fair up here in Phoenix and we are also both going to be at next year's Tucson Tattoo Expo which we are very excited about!

Happy Halloween!

It's Halloween and no better day than today to officially launch our new blog by posting the first entry! If you havent figured out by now... we are two gals both named Stacy and we are super stoked to share all of our kickass craft ideas with you, our gossip, our gripes, give away free stuff... and hear back from you too!




Okay, this is us at a tatto convention in like 2005 LOL. I'm Stacy M and I'm on the left. I met Stacy H about 9 years ago bartending at a dive bar in Tucson. We continued to work at various bars and nightclubs together bartending and cocktail waitressing and both of us working our way through college. Stacy and I would often get in trouble while working the same shifts for talking too much, laughing our asses off... or throwing quarters back at people who left skimpy tips... hahaha! Like most 20-somethings, we also partied and went to almost every freaking metal show that came through Arizona. Now a days, nobody believes any of our crazy stories that we have accumulated over the years... like how we partied with Static-X all the time, went to a strip club with Orgy and Maynard, started bar fights and had an all-female modified car club!

Well, now its 2008 and we're a lil' older and a lil' wiser. Both married with kids, we now love staying at home with them and being rockin' domestic goddesses! Crafting is our outlet and since we share so many great ideas between us, we decided to share this blog and feature some other great artists, too! We love unique, edgy, handmade goodies that you cant just get at the store... so if you do too, then you are in the right spot!
